Changes in land fund of Ukraine 1994-2009
State Committee of Ukraine on Land Resources informed about changes in the land fund of Ukraine between January 1, 1994 and January 1, 2009.
According to the Committee, the area of agricultural land shrank by 260 thousand ha (from 41.89 million ha in 1994 to 41.63 million ha in 2009, including 90 thousand ha in 2006-2009).
The area of built-up land to the contrary grew by 100 thousand ha (from 2.39 million ha in 1994 to 2.49 million ha in 2009, including 20 thousand ha in 2006-2009).
The area of water objects has not changed during these 15 years – it is 2.42 million ha.
The area of land with perennial vegetation grew by 240 thousand ha (from 10.33 million ha in 1994 to 10.57 million ha in 2009, including 67 thousand ha in 2006-2009).
The structure of the land fund from the point of view of land use has also changed:
- land in use and ownership of citizens (of all categories) grew from 5.93 million ha to 20.19 million ha;
- land in use of agricultural enterprises shrank from 40.8 million ha to 17.8 million ha;
- land in use of enterprises of forest industry grew from 7.02 million ha to 8.58 million ha;
- area f so-called “land of stock” and of “land neither in use nor in private property” grew from 3.35 million ha to 10.57 million ha.
