The book reflects upon legal basis for spatial planning in Ukraine with special attention to the role which local communities play in the process of planning territories of settlements. It also pays attention to counteraction and cooperation of local authorities and businesses. A separate chapter focuses on a problem of conflicts around developement projects. Authors conclude that the problem of such conflicts is a manifestation of a deep crisis of the system for management of spatial planning.
Conclusions of authors are based upon investigation in and study trips to Kharkiv - one of the largest cities of Ukraine.
