Land seizures on a large scale
State Inspection for Control over Land Use and Protection of Ukraine informs on September 17, 2009, that in Kirovograd Oblast it revealed large-scale land seizures.
For instance, at the territory of Olexandriya Rayon private enterprize APK ARTEM is using 821.96 ha of agricultural land without any legal basis. It was calculated that this enterprise caused damages to the state amounted to UAH 756 thousand (USD 94.5 thousand).
At the territory of Kirovograd Rayon private enterprize OLVIA is illegally using 49.31 ha of agricultural land; damages calculated at the level of UAH 45.375 thousand.
In Golovanivsk Rayon agricultural firm ZORYA seized 23.32 ha of agricultural land and caused damages to the tune of UAH 21.459 thousand.
The Inspection applied fines to managers of the violating companies and gave orders to stop illegal land use and to recover damages.
